Popular TV show keeps the cameras rolling with Webex Devices

Whether binging a favorite Netflix show or jamming to that great new song, we’re constantly immersed in the entertainment industry’s incredible creativity.

Over the last two years, this creativity has been put to the test like never before.

Like so many others, the popular television show “Lion’s Den Switzerland” had to figure out how to continue showing up for viewers while keeping their participants and crew safe and healthy in the face of a global pandemic.

Lion’s Den features promising entrepreneurs who pitch their innovations in front of a panel of investors—similar to other popular reality shows like Dragon’s Den and Shark Tank.

Pre-pandemic, the show was produced and filmed exclusively in-studio. But then, that all changed.

“We had a huge problem with our entrepreneurs who live abroad,” says the show’s producer Miriam Martino. “They obviously want to be in the Lion’s Den to pitch their idea.”

So, in an industry driven by creativity, and a show driven by the entrepreneurial spirit, the team put both into action to develop a solution.

Lion’s Den decided to leverage Webex technology to allow contestants to participate regardless of where they are in the world. During the show, each pitch is delivered live using a Webex Board and Webex Desk Pro. With premium, ultra-high-definition video quality, intelligent audio, and touch-screen capability, distance and broadcast quality results are no longer a barrier.

“We found a great solution, thanks to Cisco,” says Martino. “Once it’s time for the pitch, the switch is flicked, and there the person is, on the program.”

“Without a doubt, the pandemic has changed our behavior,” says Lion’s Den Judge Bettina Hein.

“Innovation is very important. It’s behind everything we do here at Lion’s Den. I can already envision that Webex will remain in place into the future.”

Connecting and communicating is core, and with Webex devices, Lion’s Den is keeping the cameras rolling, and the entrepreneurial spirit alive.
