Rugged wireless Cisco phone boosts frontline productivity

From nurses in the emergency room to construction workers on-site, frontline workers need a quality wireless phone that can handle more wear and tear. The first smartphone for demanding jobs, the Wireless Cisco Phone 800 series answered this call, offering reliable communication and simple management. And to make life even easier for frontline teams, the 800 series now supports native registration to Webex Calling and Control Hub. The phones also continue to support on-premise CUCM registration. Regardless of which registration and which of the four phone models you choose , reliable and secure communication is guaranteed for end users, and management is simple for network administrators.

Streamlined communication with native registration to Webex Calling and Control Hub

With native registration to Webex Calling and Control Hub, network administrators can easily manage and monitor wireless devices at remote sites. Even on regular internet connections, your call audio is secure through next-level encryption. Webex Calling offers:

  • Device control from Control Hub.
  • Phone registration over the Internet.
  • Calling experience specific to Webex Calling.
  • Investment protection for customers that are on-prem today with the flexibility to securely move to the cloud in the future.
  • Firmware deployments from the cloud to keep devices always up-to-date.

The Cisco phone for frontline work: Four models, one great experience

The Cisco Wireless Phone 800 series offers four different models so companies can choose the one that best meets their needs:

  • Cisco Wireless Phone 840: The 840 is IP65 ruggedized and has a swappable battery for shift work. The four-inch Dragontail™ glass touch screen is water and dust resistant. The phone also features a 5MP front camera and an 8MP rear camera.
  • Cisco Wireless Phone 840S: The 840S has all the great features of the 840, but includes a scanner for inventory.
  • Cisco Wireless Phone 860: The 860 is IP68 ruggedized and has a hot-swappable battery for 100% uptime. It has a 5.2” Gorilla® glass touch screen and is chemical resistant.
  • Cisco Wireless Phone 860S: The 860S mirrors all the qualities of the 860, but like the 840S includes a scanner for patient medication.

All models are compatible with single and multi-unit charging stations, ideal for always-on shift work. No matter which model and which registration you choose, the phones have built-in applications that will uplevel your productivity. Some of these applications allow you to:

  • Monitor your phone’s battery life.
  • Customize your phone buttons.
  • Provide emergency safety features such as alarms and motion monitoring, if configured.
  • Send group broadcasts via push-to-talk, if configured.
  • Scan barcodes on products to easily monitor inventory.
  • Check call quality in real-time.
  • Administrator can remotely control the volume level of the notification sounds.

Reliable and secure communication

The network, firmware, and security are just as tough as the rugged exterior of the 800 series. Communication is reliable and secure through Cisco security and network integrations. Whether using push-to-talk or voice calls, the message is always clear with echo cancellation and noise suppression. The Webex App and Webex Calling native dialer applications are pre-installed for enterprise-wide communication and collaboration. Network administrators can fully customize the applications on the phone through Control Hub to meet their company’s specific needs.

Simple device management and deployment with Control Hub

Network administrators appreciate Control Hub, the single pane of glass for device management for Webex Calling. With native registration to Control Hub, administrators can see the real-time status of each phone, push firmware updates, and collect device logs for troubleshooting.

On-premise device management

For on-premise customers, administrators can use mobile device management with Cisco Meraki. The enrollment process and profile deployment are simple, like the application management, device monitoring, and policy enforcement. The phones even support a simple, EMM alternative configuration that allows a voice administrator to disable all other applications on the phones and only expose the phone app for calling. Either network registration will benefit from the Cisco- only features: shared lines, multi-line, and extension mobility to name a few. More Cisco-only features can be found in the data sheet.

The Cisco phone ideal for a diverse range of industries

Frontline workers need a wireless phone that can handle rugged work environments. While these phones offer reliable communication for all workspaces, the 800 series is best suited for the following:

  • Construction sites
  • Manufacturing plants
  • Warehouses
  • Retail storefronts
  • Wholesale and retail stockrooms
  • Hospitals
  • Emergency rooms
  • Ambulances
  • Testing centers

In manufacturing sites, employees can quickly share pictures or videos of equipment on the 800 series phones through the Webex App to diagnose issues and reduce downtime. They can also leverage the optional scanner to document equipment access and maintenance. The phones can withstand the abuse of harsh environments, letting workers collaborate confidently without wasting time worrying about delicate equipment.

In the fast-paced retail world, the phones can handle drops, spills, and intense cleaning. The optional scanner helps boost productivity, empowering team members to quickly check inventory. Network administrators can administer third-party applications to integrate with the corporate ecosystem.

For frontline healthcare workers, the 800 series lets them quickly access the healthcare apps they need to monitor patients and access health records. The Wi-Fi capabilities allow healthcare professionals the freedom to move around the hospital campus, enjoying a secure and reliable connection wherever they go. Each model can handle intense cleaning to maintain health and safety standards.

No matter where the Cisco Wireless 800 series phones are deployed, end users and the enterprise will benefit from enhanced productivity and reliable connectivity. Whether a nurse is scanning medication, or a technician is diagnosing an equipment error, the necessary tools are at their fingertips.
