This is another exciting step forward in realizing our position and strategy of offering customers additional control over their data.<\/p>\n\n<p>In the EU, except in limited circumstances as listed below, Webex data centers are equipped to keep data local, preventing personal data from being sent to other regions of the world and protecting valuable information.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Webex provides the most extensive data residency in the EU<\/h2>\n\n<p>Webex is built on industry-leading security and privacy controls, and now is the first major collaboration provider that enables EU customers, across both the public and private sectors, to process and store user-generated content and personal data for Calling, Meetings and Messaging services in the EU.<\/p>\n\n<p>Here are some of the key milestones on our journey towards advancement of data residency:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>As of February 2020, <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.webex.com\/video-conferencing\/cisco-webex-announces-teams-data-residency-in-emea\/\" title=\"\">Webex began storing user-generated content and user profiles in the EU<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In July of 2021, as a result of Brexit, Webex created a new data center in Frankfurt, Germany, and moved EU customer content from the U.K. data center to the new data center.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As of July 2022, all billing, analytics, and other relevant personal data is stored in the EU for new customers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Now, EU customer information, except in limited circumstances as listed below, is not transferred to the United States, or any other region, and organization administrators can see where their organization\u2019s data is stored in their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webex.com\/control-hub.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Control Hub\">Control Hub<\/a>. As an added benefit, privacy controls enable users to purge usage data on demand, and soon there will be options for usage and host data retention.<\/p>\n\n<p>The Webex data centers in Germany and the Netherlands are operational and equipped to support data protection and privacy of our customers\u2019 data. With support for redundancy, resiliency and availability, these data centers also meet requirements for data residency within the EU. This means that EU customers can store and manage their Meetings content locally, including their meeting recordings, shared files, and chats.<\/p>\n\n<p>However, Webex goes beyond just keeping user-generated content for Meetings local. Customers\u2019 personal data, including billing information and analytics data, is processed in the EU. Any exceptions to EU data residency for our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webex.com\/meetings.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Webex Meetings\">Webex Meetings<\/a> customers are explained in the <a href=\"https:\/\/trustportal.cisco.com\/c\/r\/ctp\/trust-portal.html#\/1554085468927155\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Webex Meetings Privacy Data Sheet<\/a> and listed below.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Webex is proactive in meeting new regulations and certifications<\/h2>\n\n<p>Cisco is one of the earliest adherents to the <a href=\"https:\/\/eucoc.cloud\/en\/about\/about-eu-cloud-coc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EU Code of Conduct for Cloud Providers<\/a> for Webex, the first official EU code of conduct under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Webex meets requirements for regional certifications such as German C5 and <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.webex.com\/hybrid-work\/webex-attains-global-compliance-with-spains-ens\/\" title=\"Spanish ENS\">Spanish ENS<\/a>. As countries establish new cross-border policies for data transfers, Webex will continue to monitor and develop solutions for our customers.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Webex data residency gives you visibility of your data<\/h2>\n\n<p>Webex implemented data residency in the EU to give customers more control and transparency. Additionally, we aim to provide the fastest processing and data response times for Webex Meetings and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webex.com\/cloud-calling.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Calling\">Calling<\/a>, which may be achieved when data does not have to cross continents to be processed.<\/p>\n\n<p>Bernhard Albler is a Cisco partner and owner of Frink Advanced Services in Vienna, Austria, who says the framework Webex has built will benefit EU customers in big ways:<\/p>\n\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Webex has invested heavily in data residency infrastructure and engineering and is leading the way in EU data privacy. Their data residency capabilities are a game-changer for customers who require it, like public sector and healthcare. Outside of work, Jono is on the executive board for Therapeutic Health Services, a Seattle-area non-profit that supports individuals and families manage mental health and substance abuse to help them lead healthy and productive lives in their communities. He is also on the Executive Council for iUrban Teen, a STEM+Arts education program that brings together underrepresented teens and young adults for career exploration and mentoring. Jono was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada. He originally moved to Seattle for an internship with Microsoft in 2004 and has never left! Jono has always enjoyed the outdoors \u2013 spending time skiing in the winters and camping in the summer. Prior to re-joining Cisco, he was VP of Product at Truveta - a Seattle healthcare technology startup seeking to Save Lives with Data. At Truveta, Jono\u2019s team built the core product that enabled healthcare data to be brought together from many disparate healthcare systems and sources, then harmonized and anonymized for the purposes of advanced clinical research at a scale never seen before\u2013 all while protecting patient privacy. Throughout his career, Jono has held a variety of technology and business roles \u2013 from Microsoft where he helped start the Office 365, SharePoint Online and the Azure Active Directory businesses, to his previous roles with Cisco where he built teams to tackle a wide range of healthcare, collaboration and business development and strategy problems. Outside of work, Jono is on the executive board for Therapeutic Health Services, a Seattle-area non-profit that supports individuals and families manage mental health and substance abuse to help them lead healthy and productive lives in their communities. He is also on the Executive Council for iUrban Teen, a STEM+Arts education program that brings together underrepresented teens and young adults for career exploration and mentoring. Jono was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada. He originally moved to Seattle for an internship with Microsoft in 2004 and has never left! Jono has always enjoyed the outdoors \u2013 spending time skiing in the winters and camping in the summer.
