Emily van der Harten is a technical writer at Webex Events (formerly Socio). Emily’s career began in the non-profit arts world as the Audience Services Manager at Seattle Opera. After 6+ years at Seattle Opera, Emily embarked on a career as a Technical Writer, which has since been their profession for over 8 years. They are passionate about technical writing because it provides an avenue to make a positive impact on colleagues and customers, and it has opened the door to discovering and pursuing another passion – digital accessibility. Emily is a member of the Young Professionals board at Intuit: the Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art, they’re a certified Salesforce Administrator, and they’re currently studying to become a certified Accessible Documentation Specialist. Outside of work, Emily enjoys playing music, working on various art projects with their spouse, Lou, and spending time with their three cats, Prune, Keke, and Sherbert.
