We’re working with Pexip to deliver CVI to United States Department of Defense (DoD) and US Federal Civilian within impact level 4 to 7.

What is CVI?

Cloud Video Interop (CVI) is a Microsoft Certified third-party solution that enables third-party SIP and H.323 video room devices (VTCs) to join Microsoft Teams meetings. CVI is perfect for anyone who is unable to use Microsoft MTR (Microsoft Teams Room) or simply looking for a cost-effective, easy to use alternative.

Self-hosted cloud video interoperability that meets US Department of Defense security requirements

Many video meetings today are mission-critical, requiring the highest level of protection to ensure that sensitive data stays where it should be. That’s why Cisco is collaborating with Pexip, a leader in video technology, to offer a solution that enables our US Federal and DoD users to securely join their Microsoft Teams calls within a compliant cloud environment.

Webex RoomOS, Webex Device Software, And Video It's Featured Audio And Video Intelligence Packages

For over 15 years, Cisco has been the market leader in video solutions with an install base of nearly $1 billion and offering the most secure platform for US Federal customers. Additionally, Cisco has a long track record of intelligent innovation to ensure all users have the best experience possible. In 2015, Cisco and NVIDIA took a significant head-start in bringing AI capabilities to market for video devices with intelligent innovations like Noise Removal, Presenter Track, and more. AI is being innovated and implemented at an extremely fast pace and many in the market are still playing catch-up in comparison.

Developed in collaboration with NVIDIA, Cisco’s software architecture, RoomOS, is the heart of our industry-leading, groundbreaking audio and video AI, available in Webex and Microsoft Teams meetings. All these capabilities are available via Cisco Devices no matter what meeting you join… Webex, Google, Zoom, and/or Microsoft Teams, and we don’t charge extra to leverage this amazing technology!

Cisco is deeply committed to multi-vendor interoperability across our entire collaboration portfolio. We provide options for One-Button-to-Join (OBTJ) for all meeting types and Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR) support across our entire video portfolio. Additionally, we have invested in our CVI (VIMT) solution for our non-Federal customers with a rapid roadmap of future capabilities. You can learn more about Cisco’s CVI solution here.

Microsoft Teams adoption has increased across the US Federal Government, DoD, and US Regulated Markets. Increasingly, customers in these markets seek more cost-effective, robust, and user-friendly solutions to bring their Cisco Webex Video Devices into their Microsoft Teams Meetings. To that end, Cisco is excited to announce our partnership in the CVI space with Pexip for Federal and DoD customers.

Cisco & Pexip’s Partnership

Cisco has long been a communication partner to government organizations (20-some years!), and we see the growing importance of offering an ultra-secure meeting solution that works within the highest impact levels. With Pexip’s self-hosted cloud video interoperability (CVI) solution, users can access Teams meetings through our standards-based video systems, even within impact level (IL) 4 (controlled unclassified information), all the way up to IL7 (fully air-gapped solutions for US intelligence) boundaries.

Like us, Pexip is focused on bringing best-in-class connectivity from any device to any meeting. Pexip’s CVI technology serves as an important link between our systems and Microsoft Teams meetings for all types of federal and defense customers. These customers often have extremely strict classification levels that must be met, and Pexip is a partner that can deliver defense-grade technology that offers the ultimate assurance around data control and sovereignty.

Trond Johannessen, CEO, Pexip shared more about their experience delivering interoperability solutions to some of the most secure environments in the world:

“Our goal is to ensure that our customers can focus on their mission, and not worry about the meeting. When the mission requires it, our customers need to know that they can collaborate seamlessly and securely – because sometimes this meeting can mean the difference between failure and success. Our job is to enable that meeting to take place under any circumstance, to ensure that communication and collaboration are possible, even in the world’s most secure and fully air-gapped environments.”
