Webex by Cisco is reimagining the future of care as healthcare organizations are increasingly deploying new care delivery models in physical and virtual spaces. Management of complex health conditions requires coordinated collaboration between care teams and specialists with complementary skills. This is especially true for Tumor Boards focused on treatment of cancer patients. Access to expertise cannot be found in every healthcare facility, making it time consuming and expensive while delaying patient care. Moreover, traditional video calls are not flexible enough for experts to review longitudinal care records in one place to make well informed decisions.
Webex for multi-disciplinary care team meetings
In partnership with Oslo University Hospital in Norway, we developed an on-premise Multi-Content Solution (MCS) on the Cisco Meeting Server to allow multi-disciplinary teams to make timely shared-care decisions, improve care performance, and optimize patient outcomes. To support hybrid work for clinicians, we announce that MCS will now be powered by Webex cloud. Regardless of location, Webex MCS allows coordination between care teams and shares the latest health results to determine the appropriate course of treatment or care for a patient. Clinicians at Oslo University Hospital have been able to reduce the time required to determine cancer, improve patient outcomes, and reduce stress and uncertainty for patients’ families. With MCS, they can collaborate with specialists from different disciplines to review clinical data, including high resolution scans, to gain insights while finalizing a care plan for cancer patients.“The use of video conferencing helps reduce the time from diagnosis to cancer treatment start for a patient from seven weeks to one.” —Petter Brandal, Head Physician at Norwegian Radium HospitalSee how doctors utilize the Cisco Webex Multi-Content Solution: Webex MCS can combine up to four individual input sources into a single high-quality content feed on a screen that allows specialists to analyze multiple data points to make informed care decisions. Moreover, the care team can review MRI scans, patient charts, PACS and participant video feeds using Cisco Codec Pros to facilitate better care conversations. This helps time-strapped physicians join multi-disciplinary meetings from any location to help manage complex medical conditions, making care delivery experiences as effective as in-person interactions. Norsk Helsenett, a state-owned Norwegian Health Network, is providing the service to connect more than 60 MCS rooms throughout Norway.
