The 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference

The clock is ticking down to the start of the big UN climate conference in the city of Glasgow, Scotland. Since 1995, Heads of State and governments across the globe meet every year to negotiate our position on global climate change. The 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, under the co-presidency of the United Kingdom and Italy, is the 26th Conference of the Parties, also known as COP26, where world leaders agree on vitally important measures to secure the future of our planet. Maintaining the spirit of the conference this year will mean overcoming the hurdle of virtual versus in-person representation. Getting all the leaders to the table to deliberate and transform their economies away from reliance on carbon will be no small feat. Cisco is uniquely positioned to power this year’s conference with its technology in conjunction with its partners to securely connect attendees on-site and virtually. This defining moment for climate policy is supported by Cisco’s partners, ITGL and Davra, with a customized version of Legislate for Webex created for COP26.

Legislate for Webex supports inclusive debates and critical discussions

Webex by Cisco will be supporting experts, policymakers, and government leaders to stay digitally connected and participate in inclusive debates and critical discussions with their peers in Glasgow. Legislate for Webex aims to maintain institutional traditions and facilitates policy discussions, bilateral talks and side conversations with participants using secure Webex breakout rooms. Webex platform enables inclusive participation by bringing interpreters to provide live translation and closed captioning to help transcend any language barriers. Policymakers will be able to hear and share different perspectives, securely vote, and conduct negotiations with Legislate for Webex. This will all be supported by high quality Cisco device endpoints placed in meeting rooms and key areas to capture the essence of the event while facilitating high quality interactions with peers across the globe.
