Webex Suite achieves Japanese ISMAP certification

Apr 28, 2023 — Rahul Dubey

We are proud to announce that Cisco has completed the evaluation of the Japanese Information System Security Management and Assessment Program (ISMAP) for the Webex Suite. Although this certification is for Government Information Systems, this registration is valued by many Japanese organizations that are concerned about their security and privacy with cloud communications.

ISMAP is a system that evaluates cloud services to determine whether they meet the security requirements of the Japanese government. This program aids in the acquisition of government cloud services ensuring proper security levels and contributing to the smooth introduction of cloud services. The ISMAP evaluation process includes numerous audits of over 1,000 requirements to determine if international standards such as ISO and NIST are implemented properly. This evaluation includes encryption, malware protection, log acquisition, and monitoring. Upon successful completion of the audits, cloud services are listed in the ISMAP Cloud Services List for agencies to purchase.

Webex Security

Webex takes a holistic, 360-degree approach to security. It includes securing users, content, applications, and devices natively to ensure data is safe, private, and secure, and complies with legal and regulatory compliance, regardless of where people are working or who they are working with.

The Cisco Secure Development Lifecycle has been central to Cisco’s ability to swiftly meet established requirements as it ensures our cloud offerings have security and privacy standards fully incorporated. All features are designed from the beginning with security features built-in, not added on later or enabled by external software.

The Cisco Security and Trust Organization manages security to develop world-class collaboration solutions that are built-in, offering users a frictionless experience while protecting content. Some of these include verified identity, support for managed devices, on-network and off-network policies, security monitoring, and physical access controls.

Cisco continually meets compliance standards such as Japanese ISMAP, Australian IRAP, European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and Cloud code of Conduct. At Webex by Cisco, the guiding principle has always been “collaboration without compromise.” Security and privacy are never traded for convenience or speed. Our vision at Webex is secure cross-company, cross-border collaboration for businesses, governments, and consumers that is compliant with data locality, security, privacy, access, and controls, and we continuously invest in these capabilities in meeting international security and privacy standards.
