What’s new in RoomOS: August update

Webex rebrand

At our June 8th Hybrid Work event, we unveiled our new Webex brand. Now device customers will see the new branding on their Webex device user interface and a new ‘Join Webex’ button. Expect vibrant new colors, logos, and icons! We also released two background themes, “Light” and “Night,” which can be selected in Control Hub.

Hide notifications in large meetings

Larger, all-hands type meetings are great for ensuring that everyone stays informed and aligned. However, notifications of people joining and leaving can become disturbing and take the focus away from the information being conveyed. That is why we are turning of notifications in large meetings by default. The new default will show notifications in meetings until it reached 25 participants, but as more people join – notifications will be suppressed. Want to customize this? It’s super easy. Administrators can configure to either always or never show join/leave notifications.

Guest share in call

Think sharing content in a call is hard? Think again. Forget cables, adapters or installing clients. The WebRTC client share.webex.com allows easy content sharing directly from your browser. With this update, guest sharing is also available when the Webex device is in a Webex Meeting. Visit the help article here.

USB microphone support for Webex Desk and Room devices

When it comes to connecting your Webex devices with microphones, we recommend the Webex Table Microphone or the Cisco Ceiling Microphone as your external audio pickup. We understand that you value choice, so we are now supporting USB microphones or USB audio interfaces with the Webex Desk Pro, Room Kit, Room Kit Mini and the Room 55. By default, any USB audio device (for example a USB headset) will route both audio in and out through the USB device. A new setting allows to use only the microphone via USB, while the audio is played out via the Webex device’s built-in speakers.
