With the growing instances of online fraud and cyber-attacks, Webex is strengthening its position of providing the most secure collaboration platform throughout the world. We are on a journey to provide secure access, mitigate security risks and empower everyone to connect online safely and confidently. In Thailand alone, over 30,000 cases of online fraud were reported in 2021. To protect their consumers and industries, the Thai cabinet approved requirements for certifying and reporting of digital services in March 2022.

What is ETDA?

The Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) is a public agency in the Kingdom of Thailand responsible for developing, enhancing, and supporting electronic transactions that are reliable, secure, and safe from cybersecurity threats. This agency audits and certifies meeting platform solutions for use in Thailand with the intent to protect consumers from online fraud while supporting business interests in the country. This government gives power to the agency to suspend operations of services that do not comply with the Electronic Transactions Act. Platforms that provide digital services to Public Sector, Government, and regulated industries are carefully evaluated due to the sensitive nature of their digital content.

Today, we’re proud to announce that Webex by Cisco has achieved the ETDA certification (Link) for Webex meetings. Webex was evaluated by the ETDA for adherence to Security standards under the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society Notification Standards of Maintaining Security of Meetings via Electronic Means B.E. 2563 (A.D. 2020). Webex services can now be utilized by government workers with confidence that their service meets the strict regulations for security and privacy.

Webex by Cisco has long led the way for secure cloud-based calling and meetings. We have developed world-class collaboration solutions with security that is built-in, offering users a frictionless experience while protecting their content. Our customers can count on end-to-end encryption and verified identity, support for personally managed devices on-network and off-network policies, lobby controls, and visual security indicators like encryption badges for external users. And for customers who need extra security measures, we provide options for customer-hosted encryption keys on-premises with Hybrid Data Security and a cloud-based bring your own key (BYOK) option.

Cisco has been the leading provider of on-premises unified communications systems for many years and has an existing user base in Thailand. While most organizations intend to move to the cloud, customers need confidence that their cloud platform of choice has the security posture, feature set, and transition options that their organization needs to move to the cloud with confidence and without compromise.

Webex provides a comprehensive platform for calling, meetings, messaging, and video, as well as providing flexible, staged paths to the cloud for on-premises Cisco and third-party customers. And now by achieving the ETDA Certification, Webex has more proof of its comprehensive security and customer trust.
