Did You Know Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE) Could do This?

Connecting Collaboration Networks with Cisco Unified Border Element

Collaboration solutions have been big news in recent months. Rightly so, given the role they’ve played in maintaining business continuity recently. It’s sometimes worth sparing a thought for the components that work silently and tirelessly in the background to make these fantastic experiences work… effectively, reliably and securely.

One such component is the Session Border Controller (SBC) – in our case, Cisco Unified Border Element (or CUBE, to the 35,000 or so customers that know and trust it!)  It’s the role of the SBC to connect collaboration networks – to translate the protocols they speak, secure the boundary between them and protect the communications flowing through them. From this position, they can enforce business policy and protect businesses from malicious attacks, all while ensuring high-quality connections for our conversations.

What’s Under the Hood is Still Important

For many years, CUBE has connected customer on-premises telephony systems, such as Cisco Unified Communications Manager, with the public telephone network and in doing so, has been validated with an unparalleled variety of telco providers and PBX systems.

More recently, our SBC has helped customers meet compliance requirements, by delivering media for recording and analysis and to connect with cloud services that can help reduce the headache of robocalls.

CUBE may now be considered for connecting to Webex Meetings over the Internet using Webex Edge Audio, and may already be used by Webex Calling customers, to connect with their preferred telco provider.

CUBE for Microsoft Teams Phone System

To play a similar role, we’re very happy to announce that CUBE has been certified by Microsoft as an approved SBC for providing Direct Routing to the PSTN for Microsoft Teams Phone System users.

By selecting CUBE as the SBC for a Microsoft Teams Phone System service, Microsoft customers gain the flexibility to choose the telco provider they feel confident will provide the level of service and support they need for their business.

I encourage you to talk with your Cisco approved partner, or Cisco account team to learn about the protection and versatility CUBE can offer to your business, in a variety of scenarios.
